Lower Burrell Police Department
K-9 Officer Patrolm...an Derek Kotecki
End Of Watch: 10-12-11
Patrolman Derek Kotecki, 40, was ambushed and gunned down by the subject of a weeks long manhunt. On Oct. 2, one Charlie Post had fired several shots at his boss. The authorities had been hunting this bastard down ever since. At one point, a Detective made contact by phone with the gunman to try and get him to surrender. The suspect's words to the Detective were "My gun is loaded with 14 bullets. 13 for the cops and one for me." The Police got a tip stating that the suspect would be at the Dairy Queen at a certain time. Multiple Officers responded at 1900 this evening, including Ptl. Kotecki. As our Brother exited his cruiser, the suspect jumped from his vehicle and immediately opened fire, striking and killing Patrolman Derek Kotecki. The killer tried to flee on foot but came across a fence that blocked his escape. Officers were right on his tail. The gunman turned facing the Officers, pointed his weapon at the Police and then shot himself just as the Officers also opened fire. Post died at the scene. It has not yet been determined if the cop killer took his own life during the shoot-out or if hit by Police gunfire. It is possible that the person who called in the "tip" was Post himself in order to set up this ambush. This is an ongoing investigation and I will update as permitted. Home Sweet Home...

Snow, Snow, & more Snow!!!

I had to take more photos of the snow and share with everyone...Don't get me wrong as I love the snow and this one was perfect! Meaning that the snow was every where but the road so I could still get out and shop till I drop!!! But seriously I do love the snow...even though I also love the dessert for other reasons...but the snow is cool and clean seems refreshing to breathe...which means I can use my fireplace for the warmth and coziness to read or quilt by...very comforting...I go for the comfort...which reminds me that I need to cook dinner and feed my family...have a great day everyone!!!

Jaime's Quilt!

Love this quilt! She did also and so that sparked more ideas and to go a step further... Just finished a fourth of July quilt ...ready for this years picnic's...
Well off to my stash ready to create quilts to share with family and friends...
There's something in a simple hug
That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.
A hug's a way to share the joy
And sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you 'cause you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone
For whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbour,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing -
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a little hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.

And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or parts -
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts.

HUGGING
It's wondrous what a hug can do.
A hug can cheer you when you're blue
A hug can say, "I love you so,"
Or, "I hate to see you go."
A hug is "Welcome back again."
And "Great to see you! Where 'er you been?"
A hug can soothe a small child's pain
And bring a rainbow after rain.
The hug, there's just no doubt about it --
We scarcely could survive without it!
A hug delights and warms and charms;
It must be why God gave us arms
Hugs are great for fathers and mothers,
Sweet for sisters, swell for brothers;
And chances are your favorite aunts
love them more than potted plants.
Kittens crave them, puppies love them,
Heads of states are not above them.
A hug can break the language barrier
And make your travel so much merrier.
No need to fret about your store of 'em;
The more you give, the more there are of 'em.
So stretch those arms without delay
And give someone a hug today!
"Hugging is healthy: it helps the body's immunity system, it keeps you healthier, it cures depression, it reduces stress, it induces sleep, it's invigorating, it's rejuvenating, it has no unpleasant side effects, and hugging is nothing less than a miracle drug.

Hugging is all natural: it is organic, naturally sweet, it has no pesticides, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, and is 100% wholesome.

Hugging is practically perfect: there are no movable parts, no batteries to replace, no periodic check-ups, has low energy consumption, high energy yield, is inflation-proof, non-fattening, has no monthly payments, no insurance requirements, is theft-proof, non-taxable, non-polluting, and is, of course, fully refundable."

Hugs are not only nice they are needed... Hugs can relieve pain and depression.. make the healthier happier, and the most secure even more so.. Hugging feels good and overcomes fear... It provides stretching exercise to short people and stooping exercise to tall people... Hugging does not upset the environment.. It saves heat and energy... requires no special equipment.. Hugging makes happy days happier and impossible days possible.
Hugs are so needed and wanted in life...Thank You!!!

Quilts, Quilts & More Quilts!!!

To the New Year of 2011!!!

Well that is how I start my day of the NEW YEAR! I am sure there are many of you that do the same... As I sit here looking at my fabric stash and picking what I want to start with in fabrics...so hard to do!!! The ideas are flowing through my head so fast that need some sort of documintation before it escapes me...I am ready to load a fourth of July quilt that I have been meaning to get done , but better late than never...
Christmas decorations are still up as I like to enjoy them for a bit longer...Looking at them reminds me of making a list for new additions for this year, stockings, quilts, table toppers, curtians, etc.Also printing labels on the boxes for storage makes my life easier when telling hubby what ones to get...
Well I have just heard the washer ring and it is times to load the dryer and a new load in washer...so wishing all of you a Happy New Year to All ...and a Happy New Year in Quilting!!!
